Art Will Prevail

Artist Statement:
“Art Will Prevail” is a work born out of conviction, contradiction, and humor—a visual manifesto on resilience and creativity. At first glance, it’s a simple gesture: a clenched fist holding a golden banana. But it’s layered with symbolism that reflects our time and mine as an artist.
The raised fist is a timeless symbol of unity, resistance, and defiance, rooted in art history and social movements alike. It represents power in solidarity. I’ve long been fascinated by this shape—bold, emotional, unmistakable—and its place in visual culture. Here, I recast it not as a symbol of violence, but of creative rebellion.
And the banana—what could be more absurd, yet more potent in its art historical baggage? From Andy Warhol’s Velvet Underground cover to Maurizio Cattelan’s duct-taped fruit spectacle, the banana has morphed into a symbol of modern art’s playfulness, criticism, and audacity. By rendering it in gleaming, reflective chrome gold, I push that contradiction further: it becomes precious, ridiculous, loaded with irony and beauty.
Porcelain was my material of choice for its elegance and difficulty. It’s not forgiving. Every detail, every ratio had to be resolved with precision. The process of bringing this piece to life took over two years—each version getting closer to the right balance of tension, expression, and form.
“Art Will Prevail” is a statement of faith in the absurd power of creativity. In a world where culture is commodified and often dismissed, I want this sculpture to shout quietly: art still matters. Art still pushes back. Art, like that ridiculous golden banana, endures—and it will prevail.
